Where Are You?
Genesis 3:9 NKJV Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?”
So this was a question to Adam, but it is also a question to us. God ask “Where are you?” to us as a way for us to check and see where we are at. Are we following Christ, or self, “Where are you?”
Put yourself in Adams shoes, ok he most likely did not have shoes so this is a figurative reference but you get the idea right?. Anyway, put yourself in Adams shoes, he had just committed the first sin ever and the creator of everything strolls in and says “ADAM, WHERE ARE YOU?”.
I often picture God with tears in his eyes from a broken heart softly stating, “Adam, what have you done?”. God did know where Adam was, the question was for Adams benefit not God’s. It was a reality check to see if Adam had the right answer to give back to God.
Where are you? What answer do you have for God?
That reminds me of Sarah. When she overheard God tell Abraham that she would soon be pregnant, Sarah laughed. God overheard that laugh and He asked her why she did so. Instead of owning up to it and explaining why, she took the sinful road and denied it. How often must we check ourselves before we respond?
