1 Peter 3:20-21
Notice how the New King James renders verses 20-21: “…eight souls, were saved through water. There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ”
God provided a way for Noah and his immediate family to escape the old world of sin and the penalty it had incurred for disobedience to God’s laws. Noah believed God when He warned him of the Flood, and Noah obeyed God by building the ark. He demonstrated his faith by his obedience (see James 2:17-26). This is the same kind of active, LIVING faith God expects of us today.
Noah was brought up out of the water that destroyed the sinful world and was saved physically. Today, we can be saved spiritually from the eternal penalty of sin—if we really believe Christ died for our sins and if we symbolically bury them in the waters of baptism.
Romans 6:3-9 shows how we are united in the likeness of Christ through baptism
Galatians 3:27 shows we put on Christ through baptism
Ephesians 4:4-6 shows there is just one baptism
Col 2:11-12 shows we are buried with Christ in Baptism to show we will also be raised with Him, a sign of our hope to come.
Hebrews 6:1-2 talks about how baptism of believers is a basic item, with the understanding all believers are baptized believers.
Acts 22:16 Paul was told to Arise and be baptized and wash way your sins, he still unforgiven until he was baptized.
Matthew 28:18-20 we are commanded to Baptize those who would believe.
Mark 16:15-16 Preach to all and those who Believe AND are Baptized will be saved! Both conditions must be true in this case for the statement to be true.
Acts 2:38 Repent and be Baptized to be saved, this is Peters Response to the crowd.
Acts 2:41, those who received the word were baptized and then their numbers grew by 3000.
Acts 8:12, preaching leads to baptism to create Christians
Acts 8:26-39, eunuch is preached to and his first response is “why can’t I be baptized”. What Great Preaching by Phillip. Phillip response “if you believe”, isn’t it great his preaching lead the eunuch first to understand baptism and Phillip had to confirm his faith. Preachers today do not even mention baptism most of the time “just believe”. Where is the power behind that, “Repent and be Baptized for the forgiveness of Sin”.
Come on lets preach it the way the church at the time of Christ Preached it!
Hear the Word of God, Believe the Word of God, Repent for you Sins, Be Baptized for the forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holly Spirit. Then let the Holly Spirit Work in your life to change you and others for his Kingdom
Jesus Said: “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” Mark 1:15
Can we do any less?
