Veterans Day<\/p>\n
Do you recall in years gone by,
\nWhen we used to pause and pray.
\nFor those Americans who gave their lives?
\nWe called it Armistice Day.
\nThe 11th Hour of the 11th Day,
\nOf the 11th month of the year,
\nWas set aside to honor those,
\nWho fought for liberty.
\nIt was called the “War to End All Wars,”
\nAnd they died for you and me.
\nNow, we call it Veterans Day,
\nTo honor all those who served.

\nSurely, we can do no less,
\nFor their deeds are well deserved.
\nBut where now are the parades,
\nThe marching bands and such?
\nIf you care, then tell a friend,
\nAnd join in this Veterans Day.
\nMake the occasion special;
\nIt shouldn’t be made a chore,
\nFor those you have come to honor,
\nOnce cherished peace and not war.
\nSome now lay in hallowed ground,
\nFor they paid the ultimate price.
\nWhy not then, take the time to visit?
\nSurely, you can make this sacri\fce.
\nSo, whenever you meet a veteran,
\nEspecially on Veterans Day,
\nJust wave, acknowledge him, or even better yet,
\nWhy not shake his hand and say,
\n“Thank you for all that you have done,
\nTo keep this nation free.”
\nAnd to all who have served before us,
\nWho treasured liberty,
\nOnce Armistice Day, now Veterans Day,
\nJust let us never, ever forget,
\nTo pay our respects to all who served;
\nThis nation will forever be in their debt!<\/p>\n
